1. Who Pathshala is for
Pathshala is an internal app for employees of Pahal Financial Services Private Limited. Accounts are created by Pahal from its HR records; there is no public sign-up. Pathshala is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
2. Data we collect
From Pahal's HR records (HRMIS)
To create and keep your account up to date we receive: employee code, full name, date of birth, gender, blood group, work email, mobile number, date of joining, employment type and status, company, department, designation, grade, region, cluster and branch, and the names and codes of your reporting and functional managers.
When you use the app
- Sign-in: your PIN (stored only in encrypted form), sign-in times and failed attempts (to protect your account).
- Learning activity: trainings you are assigned and attend, quiz answers and scores, lessons and videos viewed, certificates earned, surveys you take.
- Content you share: profile photo, posts, stories, reels, comments, kudos, wishes, questions to “Ask Pahal”, and messages to your manager. Photos and videos are only taken from your phone when you choose them.
- Safety: when you accepted the Terms of Use, colleagues you block, and reports you make about posts, kudos, wishes or profiles (seen only by the Pahal moderators).
- Points and rewards: Pahal Points earned and items redeemed.
- Device data: a push-notification token for your phone, and basic technical data (such as the IP address of a request) in server logs for security and troubleshooting.
- Settings: your language and privacy choices in the app.
Pathshala does not collect your location, contacts, call logs or SMS, does not show advertising, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
3. How we use it
- to sign you in and keep your account secure;
- to deliver trainings, quizzes, certificates, townhalls and learning content;
- to show your progress and performance to you, and to your managers and authorised HR/training staff as part of your employment;
- to let colleagues recognise and celebrate each other inside Pahal;
- to send notifications and emails about trainings, results and company announcements;
- to keep the service working, fix problems and prevent misuse.
We process this data because it is needed for your employment with Pahal and for Pahal's legitimate purposes of training and engaging its workforce, and in line with applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
4. Who can see your data
- Inside Pahal: your managers and authorised HR, training and administrator staff, each only for what their role needs. Content you post in the app (for example kudos or posts) is visible to other Pahal employees in the app.
- Service providers who help us run Pathshala, only for that purpose: our server hosting provider; Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications); Zoom (online trainings and townhalls — when you join a meeting, Zoom's own privacy policy also applies); YouTube (some embedded videos); and our email provider (training and account emails).
- Certificate verification: anyone who scans a certificate's QR code sees the holder's name, the certificate title and the issue date — nothing else.
- When the law requires it, to government or regulatory authorities.
We never sell personal data.
5. Security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). PINs and other secrets are stored encrypted, access to the administration panel is limited by role and logged, and data is backed up regularly.
6. How long we keep data
We keep your data while you are employed with Pahal. When you leave, your account is deactivated; learning and certificate records are kept as long as Pahal needs them for HR, audit and legal purposes, and then deleted or anonymised. Backups are kept for up to 14 days.
7. Your rights and choices
- You can see and correct much of your data in the app; HR data is corrected through Pahal HR.
- You can ask for a copy of your data or its correction, and delete your account in the app (Profile › Settings › Delete my account) — see Delete your account.
- You can turn off notifications in your phone's settings, and change some privacy settings in the app.
- You can raise a grievance with us at the contact below.
8. Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and the “Last updated” date, and tell you in the app when the change is important.
